I typically follow “the rules”. I exercise, eat well, buy organics, put Alyson through all these treatments, leave Bradyn at home to comply with the new “flu guidelines” at Clinic and so forth. More to the point of this discussion, I am very patient when it comes to needing to stay in the hospital.

Back at the Hospital

Yesterday afternoon, John took Alyson’s temperature and it had popped above the magical 101F. A phone call, a drive and an admittance. To sum up, her ANC is less than 20 which makes her body run a “just in case” fever. It makes sense, really. If you can’t fight off an infection, then why not [...]

Two Weeks of At Home Chemo Done

And a week of Vincristine complete. Alyson’s ANC is about 40, which may as well be zero. We’re watching carefully for fevers and I’ve been pressing on her acupuncture points for immune system stimulation. I have no idea if it works but at least I feel like I’m doing something.
